Being on mailing lists…

I do love being on mailing lists from Cross Stitching blogs and shops – it is interesting to see what the blogs are writing about and what the shops are currently or will soon be selling.

I love getting the Free patterns email from DMC; however, there have been some designs I don’t like and will never stitch. The latest email was “Floral Wreaths”; which I feel would be wonderful for weddings and birth announcements. Have you stitched anything from the free patterns from DMC?

I am also a lover of Lord Libidan; his blog posts and articles in XStitch Magazine are wonderful. I have recently received my “Green” edition of the magazine arrived only a few days ago – and this article arrived in my inbox – Why are Glow in the Dark threads Green? I have never thought about why glow in the dark threads are green and I found this article interesting.

I used some glow in the dark threads on my “Halloween SAL” from Lakeside Needlecraft; I found them a little difficult to work with.

Ever hungry when stitching?

lord-libidan-logoAfter reading “The Weird World of Cross Stitch Food” at the glorious blog of Lord Libidan; I found that I have never thought about it that I am never hungry (or I never noticed?!) when I am stitching. I normally use Cross Stitching to forget about food; I have been struggling with my weight since my late teens (I am now ‘mid-thirties’!!) and I found if I am concentrating on something that does not involve eating food – I am good! It is also good for my mindfulness too! It is strange right? I am fall into the stitchy world and my Stitchy Bug leads me deep into this world. Having FlossTube or Twitch Creative on helps me too! Have you ever found yourself hungry when stitching?

There are many charts, kits and patterns that involve food these days; just look at some of the designs that I have completed from The Frosted Pumpkin Stitchery. I have also found that The Geeky Stitching Company has some super cute Food Pun designs! I have been thinking about creating some Foodie patterns msyelf; but where to start! Do you guys have any ideas?!

Please let me know; comment below!

Another finish!

Oh yes! Yesterday; 27th March 2018 – I completed “Pumpkins A Plenty” by Homespun Elegance Ltd

29541413_10160150817810111_7452838656655225767_n

I stitched it on 14 count Aida from Fabric Flair – it is either Cafe Au Lait or Cloud Stone (the piece did not have the name on it); which I bought via Lakeside Needlecraft. I really enjoyed stitching this piece; as I have been using it for to “Stitch A-Longs” with The Ultimate Cross Stitch Group on Facebook. As a group (I may have already told you all this…); with have two monthly SALs – one counted and another not counted. An extra ‘event’ has been happening this month; “Mega Million Stitches to Oz” – we are trying; as the group, to stitch TWO MILLION stitches! We are getting there! At the time of writing this post; I was nearly at 3,000 stitches. I will be working on more today; as I am on “annual leave” from my Supply work until 23rd April. I feel a stitch binge happening – along with a binge watching session on FlossTube. I have recently subscribed to another ten FlossTubers – I have over 100 people to watch; luckily some of them only have a couple of videos.

FlossTube #17: From the Stitchy Spot…again! is now available on YouTube

March is going slowly…

Is anyone else feeling that March is going slow? Even though I have been a naughty stitcher; as I’ve not done much stitching since the begin of March. However; tomorrow I will be spending the day stitching as I need to catch up on my Stitch A-Long with The Ultimate Cross Stitch Group and I also need to prep for the St. Paddy’s Day SAL with Stitch Maynia.

I have been busy with work; I’ve been doing a lot of job hunting and applying for some more online teaching jobs.

I have now started adding Subtitles/Closed Captions to my FlossTube videos; I am thinking about doing a video in Sign Langauge – what do you all think? I thinking about doing it during Deaf Awareness week here in the UK; which will be in May – keep your eyes peeled!!

I better get my butt in gear; see you all soon!

2018 – what a start to the year!

cropped-21248426_352985481818798_512589887364767204_o.pngI cannot believe that I have not told you all about my stitching since November 2017! I am so so sorry about that! I have so much to tell you!

I now have a Facebook page – which is where I have been sharing all my projects; it is very active. My Instagram account is also very active, as I have been posting many on my projects there recently.

My Twitch Channel is now up and running! I am still trying to get a Streaming Schedule all organised, but it all depends on my work schedule – both for Online and Offline work.

The Etsy shop is now back open for business; I will be uploading my Cross Stitch charts soon!

I have been binge watching FlossTube; there are many channels I am getting my way through. The channels that I am now up to date with are:

However; I do have to catch up on Lindy Stitches, Bendy Stitchey Michelle and…well, there are a few! Today; while writing this post – I am currently at 146 subscribers and I need to post a FlossTube video later today – so keep your eyes peeled for that! I would love to have many more subscribers!

I made a “goal” for 2018 (I am not going to say ‘Resolutions’) to stitch more –  a lot more stitching! So; I had the bright idea to do as many ‘stitchy events’ as possible! Are you ready to see what I have signed up for?

Stitch Maynia has ‘one day SALs’ which I have signed up for most of the; the Winter Olympics Challenge (which ends today) and Tour de Designers. There are so many!

As for The Ultimate Cross Stitch Group; there are two monthly SALs – one counting stitches and the other is just a “show and tell” type of event. I sign up for them every month. There are also extra events that occur; for example another Winter Olympics challenge; I try to take part in them too!

I am in the process of creating photos albums on my Facebook page to keep a record of everything; from my finishes to my TUCSG ‘badges’

I will stop there; so until the next row…

Recent projects, New Starts and more!

As you remember, two posts ago – I was not well and I watching a lot of Twitch and FlossTube. I realised that I did show what I finished during that time. Other than the Spooky Halloween SAL from Lakeside Needlecraft I completed some other pieces. If you have watched FlossTube #13 – you will have already seen these; I apologise for this.

I completed the “Rainbow Birth Sampler” designed by Faye at Little Dove Designs.

I gave it to little Fife on the 18th November.

I had a new start; the Class Schedule SAL designed by Kirsty at Armada Designs. I started for the “Colour A Day” SAL from Stitch Maynia.

Ultimate Froggie Bingo

Yes you did read that right! For the last twenty days I have been taking part in a “Stitch A-Long” with the wonderful member of The Ultimate Cross Stitch Group on Facebook. The “event” was called ‘Ultimate Froggie Bingo’.

As stated in the rules, we all had to stitch a particular number of stitches – a square of the Bingo card – we could stitch more if we wanted. Some days, I just stitched what was required and there were others where I did LOADS of stitches. If I had stitched the exact amounts of stitches, daily, I would have stitched 2,975 stitches. However, I actually stitched 3,869 stitches over the twenty days! AMAZING!

Over the twenty days I worked on the Russian Doll SAL by Kim from KLT Charting.

Here is what I did:

And of course; the event was completed. I received my “badge” this morning:

I ABSOLUTELY loved this event, as I loved having a target (per se) I had to reach every day. Accountability was the key for me – I thank the admins who organised the event.
